Engineer/producer Robert Friedrich recently helmed drum sessions at Skywalker Ranch, recording Gene Coye for the new album by celebrated Japanese pianist/composer Hiromi. Friedrich used a matched pair of Sanken’s revolutionary CUX-100K high-resolution microphones. Friedrich is president and co-founder of Five/Four Productions and part of the team of Grammy-winning producers and engineers that have made the company one of the most respected in the recording industry.

Friedrich commented, “This new album was recorded to DSD (Direct Stream Digital) and will be mixed all analog. The Sanken mics sounded unbelievable as drum overheads.”

Japanese jazz composer and pianist Hiromi Uehara, known professionally as Hiromi, is known for her virtuosic technique, energetic live performances and blending of musical genres such as stride, post-bop, progressive rock, classical and fusion in her compositions.
